Admission Procedures

Applications will be entertained from the groups described above. (See "Admission".) Applications may be submitted at any time during the year. Application forms may be obtained online or from the Administrator. Click here for our online application, call (504) 899-5815, or send your request by mail to: Administrator, New Orleans Psychoanalytic Institute, 3624 Coliseum St., New Orleans, La. 70115. A nonrefundable application fee of $100.00 must accompany the application.

The application, when received, is carefully reviewed as to the applicant's suitability for our training program. This review determines further processing of the application. In the event that the applicant is found unsuitable for the training offered at this Institute, the application process is halted at this point. Applicants who may be considered suitable for our program are interviewed, generally by at least three members of the Selection Committee of the faculty. Final decisions are made by the Education Committee, which informs the applicant of the decision by letter.

Candidates already in training in other institutes accredited by the American Psychoanalytic Association may be considered for admission with advanced standing. Their status will be determined by the reports from their previous training facility, interviews by members of the faculty, and such other information as the Education Committee deems relevant.
