Diane
Bennett Hammer, M.D., has been affiliated with the New Orleans Psychoanalytic
Institute since 1987, first as a candidate and then as a faculty member
[Instructor] involved with teaching seminars. A 1965 graduate of Duke
University with a major in Art History, she has an M.A. in Social
Service from the University of Chicago and received her M.D. from
Tufts University Medical School in 1975. Dr. Hammer did her psychiatric
residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center and a fellowship in
College Health at Harvard. She has had extensive experience with college
and graduate students and has been a consultant at Tulane Student
Health Center. She is also very interested in working with people
who have chronic physical illnesses and disabilities. She is a Clinical
Assistant Professor in the Tulane Department of Psychiatry and supervises
residents in outpatient psychotherapy.
